Steve Strope 515GTB Charger SEMA 2008
Read more...Steve Strope and the Pure Vision Design crew came up with a new twist on the wildly popular 1969 Dodge Charger.    This one is called the 515GTB, and it revolves around a story of a fictitious owner who built the car in a European race shop.    There are many surprises ranging from the all aluminum driveline to the right hand drive conversion.   Only Strope could explain it all, and here's his take on this outstanding Mopar.

2008 SEMA Photos
Read more...Here's a bunch of random car photos we shot at the SEMA show... they're in no particular order, kind of like the show itself!   We really liked the blue Chevelle with the brushed trim.   Of course, there were plenty of Camaros on hand, and this year, Sony brought out the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters.   They claim it's the original from the film.   It might take a minute to load 'em all, so please be patient.   Enjoy!

Chris Craft / Pontiac G8GT Royal Purple SEMA 2008
Read more...The Royal Purple booth at this year's SEMA show was jammed with people checking out a new supercharged Pontiac G8 GT pulling a matching Chris Craft Lancer GT concept boat.   Both machines showed off bright red exteriors with matching beige leather, gauge treatments, silver stripes, exhaust treatments, and wheels.   The combination is exactly what you'd want to see parked in your driveway ready for a summer's day of driving and boating in high-style.    The G8 GT's 6.0 V8 features a new Magnuson supercharger and upgrades to tow the boat with ease.   We talked with Chris Craft VP of Engineering Bob Greenburg and GM Powertrain rep Brian Shipman about the projects.

1971 Olds S71 New Diesel Block
Read more... The engine choice has changed a little on the Olds S71 project. It's still an Olds motor, but we've decided to run a 350 Diesel block based engine because of its much higher strength.   We sourced a DX block from a running 1981 Olds 98 Regency and pulled it apart to see what's inside. These pics show the internals of the Diesel block and the large webbing and overall meatier guts of this block.  It's also a factory roller lifter setup.  Below you can see the stock 350 block (gold) for comparison. The new recipe as outlined by Bill Trovato at BTR Performance calls for an offset ground Olds 425 crank, high-strength big block Chevy rods, custom pistons, MAHLE coated bearings, and a trick Comp Cams valvetrain to build a 428 cubic-inch Olds stroker. We're running Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake, an MSD ignition , and a complete FAST EFI system on the car.

ISIS Intelligent Wiring - SEMA 2008
Read more...Wiring a car can be a pain, especially chasing down shorted circuits and troubleshooting.    ISIS came up with the Intelligent Multiplex System which sends a digital signal to each item in the car, and triggers them to behave in a pre-programmed way.   This allows you to program your switches in the dash to do things never before possible, trouble shoot the system with no tools, save weight, increase security, and reduce dangerous sparks and fire hazards.    It's pretty high-tech, watch the video to learn more!

"MOTIV8R" Camaro SEMA 2008
Read more...Pro-Touring.com is a tremendous online forum and resource for building and discussing Pro Touring style cars.   The owner, Larry Callahan, has been patiently watching as hundreds of trick pro-touring style musclecars have been built and documented on his forum over the years, and his turn finally came.    Working with the crew at Prodigy Customs , Callahan and team created "MOTIV8R", a 1967 Camaro in just 45 days!  The whole build was documented on the website in videos.  And it's not a simple stock Camaro, either... by definition, pro touring cars need big brakes, wheels, trick suspension systems and lots of power.   MOTIV8R boasts twin turbos, a 6 speed manual, Air Ride suspension, an Art Morrison subframe, killer Forgeline wheels, interior appointments featuring air conditioning and conformable seats, and a host of carbon fiber body parts and trim from Marquez Design.      It's a winner, and the members on Pro-Touring.com are now motivated to build their own car!
