1965 Chevelle Part 8: Floor Repairs

We used the floor from our donor 1965 Chevelle 4-door parts car to cut some patches to repair the floor on our '65 2-door Chevelle. The damage was minor, small pinholes left from leaky windows, so we thought patching using butt welds would yield the cleanest and easiest repair. Here's some shots of the process.

This update is a quick overview on our plans to replace the quarter panels on the '65 Chevelle with some new pieces from OPGI , but we're going to use 3M Panelbond adhesive to do the job. Gluing the panels reduces the chance of warpage and corrosion, but it involves a couple special techniques.

2008 Pontiac G8

The 2008 Pontiac G8 GT was introduced at the Chicago auto show, and while it shares a new platform with the Chevrolet Camaro, it's still very obviously a Pontiac, though admittedly it's one with a low enough beltline that from inside the view is spectacular, even though it's fairly subtle. We liked the understated approach from Pontiac in their new high-performance sedan.

1966 GTO - Exhaust Through The Bumper

We were looking for cool way to finish off the MagnaFlow exhaust kit we got from YearOne on the GTO, and noticed that the factory reverse lights would make a nice exit point to run the pipes through the bumper. Scott Guhene made it happen, and it looks slick.

Here's the final rounds from the 2008 World Street Challenge Race #1 held at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis. These are the finals from the Diesel Challenge class all the way up through Pro Mod. No fluff, just the finals. 1966 GTO - 18 Days to first drive

We're skipping ahead a little to post real-time coverage of the GTO build... right now, we're getting the car ready for its first drive on the 2008 Hot Rod Power Tour, and we've got 18 days to make this car a driver! We'll be posting all the detailed install videos of each component we used on the car when they're completed, but we thought a quick nightly update would be cool to share the daily progress up to the first drive. This go-around, the car will be a complete driver with a "temporary" paint scheme, as we don't have time to completely replace the quarters and trunk floor, but we'll hit that stuff after the Tour. However, the chassis and driveline should be nearly completed for the shakedown on the road!
