Today we thought we'd let you hear the 490 in the '68 Camaro for a bit, and it sounds killer. It's a stroked 454 with an Eagle crank and rods, JE pistons, Holley oval port heads, a Weiand Stealth intake manifold, FAST EZ-EFI fuel injection, MSD Digital E-Curve distributor and MSD wires, Moroso fabricated valve covers, Hooker headers, and a Vintage Air Frontrunner serpentine system. But the real star is the Comp Thumpr hydraulic roller camshaft kit... (PN COMP K01-600-8). This thing sounds like a top fuel car! More on this engine in an upcoming video, but here's a taste. We love the super-fast throttle response of the EZ-EFI and this Comp Thumpr. Cool.

Tonight, Nathan completed the wetsnading process and the 3M Perfect-It buffing process, and man does this car shine! The BASF Glasurit clear looks like you dipped the car in liquid metal. It's unreal.

We painted the '68 over the weekend, here's a sneak peek at the car right after the Glasurit clear was sprayed. Today, Nathan is wetsanding and buffing it to a mirror-like shine!

Today, Nathan and the crew are hard at work on the post-painting steps to making our 1968 Camaro "Reloaded" gleam like a show car. The process starts with a through wet sanding of the BASF Glasurit clear coat, knocking down any surface imperfections and also "burying" the stripes in the clear. This means that the stripes will not be detectable if you run your hand over them. Nathan will also be using the 3M Denibbing tool to remove large paint "nibs". The next steps will be more wetsanding with the 3M Trizact system, and finally buffing with the 3M Perfect-It system.

While installing the MSD Super Conductor 8.5 MM spark plug wires, we took a minute to measure the electrical resistance of these wires and compare them to stock. We found them to have nearly 100 times less resistance than stock wires… pretty amazing.

Today Nathan and crew began to hang the front sheetmetal for the last time. These doors, fenders, inner fenders, and other parts have previously been fit to the car, but were removed to paint the jamb areas. Today, the crew is re-fitting them to prep the car for final Glasurit paint on the outside surfaces.
