Here's some random thoughts form Amarillo, TX.
I'm sure the same environmentalists that complain about oil being dripped onto the ground also complain about the earth being paved over, and rightly so. Most would agree that the world would be a better place with less pollution and fewer parking lots.
But, as one who loves to drive just for the thrill of it, and as one who tries to be environmentally responsible, I'm sure glad someone built the mountain passes and other twisty roads on this planet for me to enjoy. Blasting your way through a mountain with dynamite and/or tunnel borer is also bad for the environment, but the result is so divine. My basic philosophy is to leave the world as I found it, although I'd really like to leave the world
better than I found it. If only they could find a less toxic method of road paving...
I've made plenty of repairs in front of parts stores, too. The most memorable was when I was at a Parts Plus and a rubber fuel line cracked above the thermostat housing on my GTO when I was originally there for something else altogether. The engine was HOT, gasoline was vaporized, but luckily there was no fire, and it was a quick fix. Fun times!
