This slck space ship began life as Chevrolet's "lowest priced sedan", a car that could carry the family around in style without breaking the budget. The Biscayne was the post sedan, where the Impala was the hardtop with no pillar post around the windows. Today, this car is undergoing a complete transformation, including an LS1 all aluminum fuel injected V8, 6-speed manual trans, full air suspension, big wheels & brakes... making for the name "Post Modern!"
We visited with the crew from MagnaFlow on the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour to learn that they're a step ahead of us in solving the issue of building a trick exhaust system for big Chevrolets from the late '50s and early '60s. We're building a 1959 Chevy Biscayne called Post Modern, and it looks like the new MagnaFlow system will be available just in time!
A quick update on replacing the rear trunk weatherstrip channel with some replacements cut from a donor car at Desert Valley Auto Parts. These areas rusted away years ago from the rubber weatherstrip holding on to moisture, and they're not available in the aftermarket, so you need to find a donor car or make your own.
Here's the first set of photos from the teardown and media blast of our 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne "Post Modern." The metalwork has begun, and we've shot the entire body and parts in DuPont epoxy primer. We've got a long way to go on this one, but the ball is rolling!
Here's the first of many videos covering our project 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne project called "Post Modern." The plans call for an LS1 / 6-speed manual drivetrain, big wheels and brakes, air suspension, and a bunch of other cool tricks. The red & white in this rendering are only one of a bunch of color ideas we're kicking around, but the final color has yet to be chosen. We're doing a complete build on this car, so stay tuned for many videos on the transformation!
Here's a list of some of the parts, products, and services
we used to reconstruct the 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne "Post Modern"
project. Without companies that share our passion for keeping cool
American Musclecars on the road, we wouldn't be able to make these
projects come to life. If you happen to contact one of these companies
listed, please tell them V8TV says "Hello!"
