Smith’s car is a ’64 Ford Galaxie 500 that’s been slammed, tubbed, flamed, and given the dual-quad 60-over 390 4-speed routine by her and her father, Mike. Outside of the paint, they did all the work themselves.

Under the hood, Smith’s Galaxie maintains a clean and simple theme of basic black and shiny accents. The .060-inch overbored 390 now wears a set of 450CFM 2 barrels, a 427 intake, Crites headers, a Crane Cam, and numerous other speedy tricks. We don’t know what it’s capable of in the quarter mile, but Smith’s eager to find out.

Inside you’ll find a bench seat, a 4-speed, and a roll bar. It’s a cool combo designed to by comfortable, and the back seat is still useful even with the roll bar and wheel tubs. Smith even had Ford Racing whip up a custom fuel pressure gauge… they only sold a 100PSI EFI gauge… so all her stuff matches in the car. They actually made 2 Gauges like this one, but the other is in the possession of her father.

Mike and Christina Smith did the back-half conversion to fit the giant Mickey’s out back. The car drives nice and straight thanks to a good chassis setup. A 9-inch rear end sporting 4.11:1 gears helps the launches. Smith likes to use the NHRA-spec power cutoff as a theft deterrent… just in case some riffraff tries something funny at a late night Denny’s run.

Of course, the most magnetic feature of the car is the paint. Flamed by John Wargo at The Custom Shop in Flanagan, IL, it’s a basic red to yellow fade flame job with a couple modern tricks added, like the Ford blue abstract striping. A poor flame job can detract heavily from a car; this one only adds to the head-turning power of this Galaxie. There won’t be any sneaking around in this car; everyone sees it wherever it goes.
