 Unchanged from last year, the 2009 Buick Enclave is a full-size
SUV featuring a powerful engine, generous seating, and enviable fuel
economy. Awarded with the highest in
crash test ratings, the Buick
Enclave is packed with upgraded safety features, from StabiliTrak to power
programmable door locks. StabiliTrak is
an advanced steering program that automatically senses the direction in which
the SUV is turning. This program will
instinctively correct any over-steering, prevent rollovers, and keep the
vehicle on the road during inclement weather conditions.
Under the
hood, the 2009 Enclave is equipped with a 3.6L VVT V6 that produces up to 275
horsepower. 251-lb per foot of torque
put the Enclave at the top of the heap for 2009 luxury SUVs. A six-speed automatic transmission shifts
quietly and smoothly, but the lack of an optional manual transmission might be
off-putting to some potential buyers.
However, the sophisticated automatic transmission will gauge the load
being hauled in the Enclave and downshift without the driver having to move a
muscle.
With an EPA
estimated 15 city MPG and 24 highway MPG, the Buick Enclave surpasses the
comparables on the market. Not only
that, the tri-zone climate control allows all three rows of passengers to
determine their own personal temperature preference. Another luxury feature not seen in most other
luxury SUVs for 2009 is the Bose 10-speaker 5.1. Surround Sound audio system. This advanced audio technology is digitally
mastered for clearer, more pure sound.
This particular Bose sound system was developed specifically for the
2009 Enclave, so every aspect was implemented to provide a superior sound
experience inside this model.
With
exterior accents like the black chrome grille, 3-D taillights, and overall
sleek, chrome additions, the Buick Enclave is unlike any other SUV on the
road. Buick designed the Enclave to
stand out from the crowd, and they have accomplished their goal with an
elegant, aerodynamic façade.
Nevertheless, some consumers might be disappointed that this luxury
model does not come standard with a rearview backup camera. Not only that, the standard navigation system
is part of OnStar, where a driver must speak directly to an OnStar representative
to receive turn-by-turn directions. Buyers
must upgrade to a more expensive package to obtain a touch-screen navigation
unit.
With its
premium features and stylish appearance, this eight-passenger SUV certainly
belongs in the luxury category; its price does not reflect that. With a base MSRP of $34,130, buyers will be
hard pressed to find a better model for the price. While the 2009 Buick Enclave is lacking in a
few expected amenities, it more than makes up for it with its well-designed
exterior and advanced interior features.
