We took our 1990 Ford Mustang GT to the chassis dyno at Finish Line Performance (877.FLP.2WIN) to see what this bone-stocker 59,000 mile car would do.

This Mustang is going to be a long-term project on V8TV, so we wanted to get a good baseline run, then add some tune-up parts from MSD and synthetic fluids from Royal Purple. Our first dyno day netted us nearly 4 hp and 5 lb-ft torque. On future episodes, we're going to be doing many modifications including brakes, suspension, and power adders to this car, so stay tuned.

Our baseline dyno run at Finish Line Performance generated 177 rear-wheel horsepower on our 1990 Mustang. Not super impressive, but par for stock Mustangs of that era.

We first pulled the plugs to find a .070-inch gap these things were set up for a Top Fuel car. We installed new plugs and set them to .035-inch.

Next, we installed an MSD 6AL box to heat up the spark. This was followed by a set of MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires.

To complete our one-day tuneup, we switched all the fluids to Royal Purple synthetics. We used Racing 21 engine oil, Max ATF transmission fluid, and Max Gear differential oil.

When it was all said and done, we picked up nearly 4 hp and 6 lb-ft in a couple hours. This is just the beginning for this Mustang.
