Here's a quick intro on our 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne project called "Post Modern"... it's going to be a slick sled, Ridetch suspension, LS1, 6-speed, trick paint... all the goodies. Here, Kelle is beginning the teardown on the body. Follow the project here!

This looks like a nice project. Great body style of corse that could be because I remember them when they were kind of new. My cousin had a 59 Impala with a 348 and three speed on the floor. Fast car.

Here's the first set of photos taking us through the teardown and media blasted body of the '59 Biscayne. We've got a long way to go, but the ball is rolling!

Some thoughts on the recent video showing the impact of a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air vs. a 2009 Chevy Malibu. After getting into our 1959 Biscayne project, the outcome seems more believable! Safety has come a long way.

Kevin you've nailed it on the head with your closer look at how the biscayne was constructed and why it folded so easy

I guess the best we can do today is rectify some of those factory/ design faults but not effect the cars' exterior looks.....still don't think the biscayne will win but I'm sure it may have a better chance after your team tidies her up

It would take quite a lot of re-engineering to bring the old Biscayne to today's crash test standards... we'll just make it drive, steer, and stop a million times better than original!

Here's a quick update on the rear trunk weatherstrip channel repairs with some parts we got from Desert Valley Auto Parts. We're getting some steamy summer weather in the shop, so pardon the fog!

Here's a look at the driver side rear trunk weather strip corner after welding and grinding. The trick is to keep the deck lid fitting properly during this kind of work!

We visited with the crew from MagnaFlow on the 2010 Hot Rod Power Tour to learn that they're a step ahead of us in solving the issue of building a trick exhaust system for our 1959 Chevy Biscayne called Post Modern, and it looks like the new MagnaFlow system will be available just in time!

Hey Kevin & Kelle. I spotted a '59 Impala in the wild, and thought of you. Los Aalamitos, CA

More pics and videos to come on the Biscayne. As it stands today, the exterior metalwork is all completed, as well as the initial rounds of body filler and block sanding. It's one straight space ship! We'll be shooting the BASF polyester soon, and then more block sanding, and then the body comes off for paint. At that point we'll be finishing the chassis / engine install.

Just came across the slick adapter fittings from Russell (PN 644000)... they push on the stock fuel rails and allow you to attach A/N fittings to the LS1 fuel rails. Pretty neat & easy, should we run braided steel to the rails...
