MUSCLE CAR & CORVETTE NATIONALS GEARS UP FOR 2010: MCACN II!
With the success of the inaugural Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals show, the enthusiast/owners are making big plans for the 2010 edition, which will take place November 20-21, 2010.
Occupying nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space, MCACN II will return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois. With over 500 cars and 200 automotive vendor spots in 2009, the show was completely sold out and filled to capacity. 2010 is sure to again be a hit, with several special invitational displays already confirmed.
“With the excellent response we received for our Class of 69 feature, we have decided that it is a natural to host a Class of 70 display, as many consider 1970 the pinnacle year for the Muscle Car” stated Managing Member, Bob Ashton. “This display will feature the top-dogs from each manufacturer, including a Buick G.S. Stage I Convertible and many other rarities” Ashton said. Another invitational display will focus on the cars of Baldwin-Motion, which many consider the most outrageous of the dealer-built Supercars. This will most likely be the largest gathering ever under one roof of these ultra rare machines.
The Shelby Snakepit, which spotlights the muscular machines of Carroll Shelby, will return for 2010, as it was one of the favorites of the 2009 show. Expect to see not only Shelby Mustangs, but also other unexpected Shelby automobiles. 2009 saw several Cobra’s and a GT40 in addition to the variety of unique Shelby Mustangs.
Chicago icons Nickey Chicago and Mr. Norm will again be on hand as key sponsors, and also participants. Expect to see some of the rarest and most muscular cars that came out of the legendary Chicago dealerships from “back in the day,” along with their newest offerings, including Stage III Nickey Gen 5 Camaro’s and brand new Mr. Norms Garage Challengers and Cudas. The excitement returns with these high-horsepower modern day muscle cars!
With an all automotive theme, spectators will enjoy seeing many national exhibitors showcasing their latest products and services. “With the success of our 2009 show, inquiries from across the country have been coming in,” Ashton stated. “Since we cater to those with a true interest in the best Muscle Cars and Corvettes, we offer a unique opportunity for our vendors” he said. The convenient location, within minutes of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, allows spectators to easily fly in and be a part of this national level show.
For those interested in finding that elusive part, the all automotive theme continues to the swap meet area. With everything from rare N.O.S. (new-old-stock) parts to shop manuals and collectibles, this is an excellent opportunity for both buyers and sellers. With the show being all indoors, it assures comfortable shopping. Parts pick-up and assistance with loading is offered by the MCACN crew at no charge, showing that this group is committed to offering a full service operation.
Additional features include the Vintage Certification Program, which documents original unrestored cars, promoting the preservation of these rare untouched vehicles. Another highlight is the nationally recognized Triple Diamond Corvette competition. The Triple Diamond display will feature original and restored Corvettes that have already achieved NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold status, representing what truly is the best of the best in the Corvette world. With the unprecedented success of the inaugural Triple Diamond program, expect to see even more of the country’s best Corvettes in 2010, pursuing this coveted award.
With a judging team consisting of many nationally recognized experts for the different marques, the MCACN show offers something no other show has. A wide variety of classes offer something for everyone, ranging from the Non Comp/Non Judged pick classes to intense Concours judging classes. Another unique program, known as Day 2 Concours, offers this intense judging for those who own authentic and date code correct modified cars that have been restored to exactly the way they were when new, acknowledging owner or dealer modifications. Expect to see the very best cars from Yenko and Gibb Chevrolet, Mr. Norm’s and others that were performance leaders at the height of the muscle car era competing in these classes along with unrestored original examples that are true time capsules from an era now gone.
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is the nations largest all indoor specialty show and swap meet devoted to Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and Corvettes. For more information, contact Bob Ashton, Managing Member;
