Hi Kevin and Kelley
I've enjoyed checking up on you guys.  Your videos made me laugh . Thanks I needed that.  I love road trips. We usually do it with the car so packed with junk its like were foamed inplace in our seats . Keep the updates coming I'm loving it.  Good luck with the fix.

I just checked your status and it looks like you are making good time crossing Oklahoma. You should plan on stopping in Amarillo and have dinner at the Big Texan. Maybe you could take the steak eating challenge?

Hello everyone!!!
Sorry to be out of the loop for so long.  We are not making good time today at all.  We started so early, but we had IVR, Circuit Breaker, Flasher, and finally a loose nut on the back of the ignition switch problems.  We think its all better now, but, we've been saying that a lot lately.
Anyway, we are 14 miles from the Texas border.  So I am not expecting to make it to Otto's tonight.  We don't like driving the car very late into the night.  I'm sure you all can understand due to our recent electrical issues why we aren't keen on being on the side of the road with all businesses closed and no one around to help, but we'll see.

So, the funny thing today is that when we put the IVR in in Oklahoma City, Kevin thought the gauges still weren't registering right, he thought the temp was too low and the gas was to low.  But we drove on anyway, thinking we might have the electrical fixed, we stopped at a Best Buy in Oklahoma City and picked up a cheap radio with a built in amplifier and a plug built in for the Iphone.  We installed that in the parking lot of Best Buy (probably faster than the Geek Squad inside) and then drove some more.  WELLLLL apparently the gauges were right because the gas gauge said E and Kevin got off an exit to refuel and check things, when just at the top of the hill the car died and we coasted into the gas station.  We only had to push it about 6 feet cause some other car was at the pump before us.

So we refiueled both the car and our bellies then got back on the road and the gauges still didn't make Kevin happy.  Then the rain came, so we pulled off to put the top up and look at the wiring diagrams.  Kevin decided the problem was beyond the IVR and flasher so we FINALLY found a loose nut on the back of the ignition switch that gave power to the IVR.  I got under the dash and tightened it right up and we are on our way again.  Its cloudy over Texas  and looks like we are gonna drive into rain again.

The good news is the car is running great, the weather is cool in the 70's and Kevin and I are still happy with each other and a great team.  What more could you ask for.

If you are following us on the map with the pins and notice it dropping out its the Iphone, it doesn't like dropping pins, playing the radio, checking emails and texts and giving me directions all at the same time.  so I have to keep restarting it.

If you are family or friends and reading this, send us emails or texted, we can't hear the phone when we are driving, or leave a message and when we stop again, hopefully not for a while, we will call you back.

This is one of the early morning videos we shot coming out of Oklahoma City after the IVR install at the Napa Parking lot.
Kevin said there is some song about the sunrise in Oklahoma City by the Eagles but it was actually Tequilla Sunrise, so forgive him, it was early... and the sun was in his eyes...

Here we are at the gas station, just after running out of gas.  Never a dull moment with this car.
We are questioning why we drove this thing all the time for the past year and a half with no troubles and on this trip, so far from home, it gives us all these headaches.  Literally, we have both bonked our heads several times on the windshield and dash.

This video is us at lunch.  If you are ever in Oklahoma on Highway 40 at exit 82 I think, go to Lucille's Roadhouse for lunch or dinner.  The food is good and the people are nice.  And the place is decorated with Route 66 stuff.  We ate lunch and talked about what the hell is still wrong with the IVR.  It has something to do with the blinker.  We came up with some ideas, and we laughed about running out of gas.  At least we were laughing!

After lunch we hit the road to some very clear blue skies.  Hopefully it stays this way!

I just gotta say we are really pushing the electrical limits on this car.  We have a plug in the cigerette lighter that allows me to plug two things in to the lighter.  We have the Iphone on one charger, the laptop on the other, both of them are on and running, plus the radio is on, plus the lights since we are driving through the rain.  I hope we don't melt down.

Hey all,

Kevin here again.    Just shot some video in Tucumceri, NM... it always reminded me of Radiator Springs.   Route 66 stuff is cool.   We'll post it up later when we get a better wi-fi connection.

Sounds like you need a new wiring harness?
