This is another great scale model that would look awesome as a real car. Model builder Adam Bates used a Bob Glidden Thunderbird funny car model from the 80s and adapted it to the Starliner body. So cool!

I never thought I could fall in love with a 1977 Plymouth Volare, but holy cats, this scale model of a Pro-Touring version is off the charts!
This was built by Sven at Sven's World Of Wheels and is a complete knockout. We're envisioning a late model SRT driveline, Forgeline wheels, big brakes... all the good stuff.
We love the old C-Stripe on the side and the blacked-out treatment on the hood, too.
There are more photos at his website, but this is definitely a car that needs to be built in full scale! Give us a call if you want one... we're ready to find the donor car and fire up the welders!

Holy cow!!! Man, what imagination. Even in 77 Volares were something to be sneered. Not this one! Well done!!!

I remember the 77 Volare kit. I had one and used a bunch of left over parts from other models to turn it into a Pro Street version. I painted it dark blue with slicks and a big blower sticking out of the engine bay (sans hood). I wish I would have taken pictures of all my models as I made over the years as I must have made over 100 of them.

I just realized this post was from 2016, and I just obtained one of these kits last month in 2021! I'll post build pics when I get confident enough to build it! BTW, we shared the story on this kit in a recent V8 Radio Podcast episode, here's the link:

oestek wrote: This is another one that I really liked as a kid and think would make an awesome full-sized ride. It's a '53 Chevy panel gasser. The original model issue was from decades ago, and I really dug the red-white-blue paint scheme and stars on the nose. I think I've posted this pic on the forum before at some point, I don't remember.
It has since been re-issued by Revell as the Drill Sergeant:
I'm not thrilled with the new scheme, but you can still build it as the old stars & stripes version as this fellow did:
Can you imagine shakin' the earth with this supercharged 409-powered beast in real life? Too cool.
