My wife's 2013 Impala has a V6 that is rated at 300 hp. That is even better than some V8 today. This V6 in this heavy car also gets 32 to 34 mpg on the highway. Anyone thought of hot rodding one of these engines and maxing out hp and yet get good gas mileage?

It's nothing short of amazing at how modern technology can squeeze power levels once unheard of out if a production engine. Personally, I'm not sure if there's any group that is modding these particular V6s. However, there is a pretty strong following for the Buick 3.8 liter V6. The super charged versions respond very favorably to simple after market goodies.

I see a few more transplants of the Ford EcoBoost because it's offered in a crate motor with a stand alone harness. I'm not sure Chevy is offering theirs in a crate package. Jon
